Translated as “The Beautiful Cupboard”, La Belle Armoire is a busy workshop. This is where owner Greg and his apprentices use their artistic talents to transform ordinary furniture into works of art. That’s if they’re not ‘on site’ painting stunning, intricately detailed murals on walls or ceilings.
Trained as a Decorative Artist in England, Greg’s work is inspired by his extensive experience working in countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland. There is an unmistakeable traditional French feel about the La Belle Armoire style. Yet it is also influenced by less obvious sources, such as Swedish art history or the rock art of Africa’s early Bushmen.
Most of Greg’s work is made to order and sometimes involves matching colours to fabrics chosen for the home. If you are visiting from abroad, you may also be interested to know that La Belle Armoire is regularly commissioned to produce furniture destined for homes all over the world.
