Janet Ormond’s Studio & Gallery

Janet Ormond’s studio gallery is an inspiring blend of art and environmental consciousness. Set along the farm’s artisan alley, the gallery is a must-visit for anyone passionate about conservation and creativity. Here, you’ll find Janet working amidst her collection of ocean plastic, thoughtfully gathered from South Africa’s beaches and transformed into impactful art.

Visitors to her studio can experience Janet’s captivating artworks up close, with each piece telling a story of our oceans and the need for conservation. You’ll have the chance to view works in progress, ask questions, and explore the variety of materials she uses-each piece of plastic a reminder of the beauty and fragility of our natural world. Janet has created this space to share her vision, offering visitors not only a glimpse into her process but also an invitation to reflect on their own relationship with the environment.

Meet the Artist: Janet Ormond

Janet Ormond is an environmental artist and activist dedicated to raising awareness about ocean pollution through her powerful, thought-provoking art. Born and raised in Cape Town, Janet grew up near the sea, spending her days on local beaches and sailing as a child. This lifelong connection to the ocean fueled her journey as an artist and inspired her commitment to conservation.

Since 2018, Janet has been transforming discarded ocean plastic into visually striking pieces that resonate with viewers worldwide.

Her art draws attention to the impact of pollution, blending creativity with activism to inspire change. Janet’s work has earned her international recognition, including a finalist position for the State of the Art Gallery Award in 2021, and she continues to engage audiences through documentaries, editorials, and exhibitions.

With each piece, Janet aims to spark personal reflection and encourage sustainable choices. Guided by the belief that “You can’t go back to the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending,” Janet invites everyone to consider their role in protecting our environment. Her work is a call to action, and through her studio gallery at Imhoff Farm, Janet hopes to inspire visitors to join her in creating a more sustainable future.
