The HopeTown shop on Imhoff farm is more than just a shop. Every product tells a story of hope and empowerment. HopeTown is an existing NPO (Section 18A status) with credibility and traction in Ocean View, our nearest community. HopeTown works with young people at risk, who come from very challenging and often traumatic backgrounds. Aside of a bubbling youth centre reaching 150 kids and teens every week, HopeTown runs various programs within the community of Ocean View. The goal being to take young people off the street and invite them into a meaningful community. HopeTown also runs a small school for drop-outs in the community (HopeTown Academy) and a community house (Eden House), where young people that come out of violent and turbulent homes live together and learn habits of healthy living over a period of 1-3 years.
HopeTown has also established a 3 step internship program for young unemployed youth coming from Ocean View. This is a holistic training which focuses on self-management, stability in life, skills training, job readiness and integrity. The main training centre is in Ocean View with a second training hub on Imhoff farm.
HopeTown creates beautiful products in their skills training and they are sold through their social business in Imhoff farm shop to support the self sustainability of the organisation. The products are of excellent quality and are very stylish.
Hopetown has one big goal in their skills training: to create beautiful and trendy products, which are so cool that people want them and don’t buy them, because they feel pity for the young guys who make them. Our products are not just a charity products but excellent and of high quality. We set trends and create products who haven’t been on the urban market before.
